Malik Asif Ahmed Niswana, President Lahore High Court Bar Association, Abdul Rehman Ranjha, Vice President Lahore High Court Bar Association and Farrukh Ilyas Cheema, Secretary Lahore High Court Bar Association, in their joint statement, strongly condemned the Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court, Mr. Justice Tariq Jahangiri, being prevented from judicial work by Mr. Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfaraz Dogar.
The leaders said that Mr. Justice Tariq Jahangiri is a judge who is renowned for fulfilling the requirements of law and justice and for his historic decisions. Preventing a judge like him from judicial work is an obstacle to justice and a question mark on the judicial system.
They further said that such steps have been taken in the past as well, due to which the judicial prestige was hit and ultimately the courts had to change their own decisions. Such extraordinary steps not only affect judicial independence but also create anxiety and tension in the legal community.
The Lahore High Court Bar Association has demanded that the Supreme Court immediately take notice of this unfair decision and withdraw it, otherwise the legal community will be forced to take direct action.
